Help - the answers for the most frequently asked questions


REGISTRATION

How can I register with TravelFriends?
In order to register click 'Sign up', then choose your nickname - a name, which you will use each time when you log in to TravelFriends - and a password, which you will remember. Keep in mind that you should not make accessible your password to anybody - this is the key to your Profile and all the information that you keep in it. Your password and your email address have to be typewritten correctly. Afterwards fill in the Registration Form. If there are any discrepancies in filling in, after you clicked 'I accept Terms and Conditions' and 'Register', you will see the information what you need to correct. When the form is filled in correctly, to the email address you had written earlier we will send an email with an activation link. Please receive your mail and click the link. From that moment you can log in to TravelFriends with the use of your nickname and your password.

I've registered but I cannot log in. Why?How can I register with TravelFriends?
Make sure that you have activated your account correctly. To the email address you wrote during the registration we sent an activation link. You need to click the link and wait until a website with a logging in form is loaded. If you still cannot register, click the link ‘Remind password’ or send an email to help@travelfriends.pl.

I received an email with an activation link even though I have never registered withTravelFriends
Probably somebody by mistake wrote your email address at registration with TravelFriends. Please do not click the activation link, simply delete it.

I have registered but didn't get the activation link yet. Why?
Wait up to 48 hours. If until then you don’t receive anything, it means that probably you had typewritten an incorrect email address or the email we sent to you went to the Spam folder in your mailbox. In such a case please go to 'My account' in menu and choose 'Activation link'. Fill in the fields adequately.

PROFILE

How can I complete / change my data written during the registration?
From 'My account' menu choose 'Settings' and then click 'Edit your profile' - there you can add or change your data.

How can I edit my Profile?
Log in to your Account. Each particular section of your Account is available after you had clicked the right link in menu.

After I edited my Profile I can still see my previous data...
Wait a few minutes. Refresh the website (CTRL+F5) and if that doesn't help, delete cookies and all the temporary Internet files.

I do not want everybody to see my data...
Go to 'Settings' - over there in the section 'Edit your privacy settings' you can specify the level of your Account to be visible to the others.

I want to be automatically logged in each time I go to TravelFriends
In order to be automatically logged in to the system you need to click the link 'Log out' and after that when logging in again you should check 'Remember me', which is placed under the form to logging in

What 'Tags' describe?
Tags are the most important words, which you can use to describe yourself - that's the information about what you are interested in, what you most enjoy doing and what type of person you are - anything you can think about. That is a simple way to tell the others what describes you in best way and also to find the people who described themselves exactly as you did.

Can I add to my Profile more places or tags? (during the registration I can add only a limited number of them)
Yes, you can add as many tags or places as you want directly from the panel on the right hand side, just type a tag or a place in a suitable field and click 'Enter'

Can I delete places or tags from my Profile?
Yes, you can. This option is available in 'Settings' or in 'My places' / 'My tags'

I cannot remember my password. How can I restore it?
Under the button 'Sign up' there is a link 'Remind password'. Click it, write down your nickname (username) and your email address in order to restore the password. The password will be sent to the email address you wrote during the registration.

How can I change my password?
Go to 'My account', click 'Settings' and then choose 'Edit your password'. After you entered your new data, confirm it by clicking 'Save'.

How can I change the email address I wrote during the registration at TravelFriends?
Go to 'My account', click 'Settings' and then choose 'Edit your email’. Write your new email address and your password. Confirm by clicking "Save" button.

Where can I report any errors and problems with the functionality of TravelFriends service?
Errors and problems you can report by sending an email to the address: help@travelfriends.pl.

My Profile is not active. Why?
There are some of possible problems:
- you didn't fill in obligatory fields
- your profile has been blocked: you acted against Terms and Conditions (in such a case you will receive an email from our Moderator with the instruction what you should do in order to unblock your Profile)

I do not want my Profile to be visible on the main TravelFriends website and/or in the Search tool. How can I do it?
Go to 'My account' and in 'Settings' you can specify, where exactly you want your Profile to be visible

CONTACTS

I forgot to activate my account and my activation link has expired. How can I activate my account?
In menu 'My account' there is 'Activation link'. In the suitable fields write your email address - the same you gave us during the registration together with the Username, which you wrote at the registration. To the address given we will send a new activation email. Please click it and follow the instructions.

I want to contact another TravelFriends user. How can I do that?
Go to your Mailbox, which you can see in your main menu and click 'Write a message'. In the field 'To' you can just write first few letters of the nickname of the other user and the system will dispay for you all the names in the portal, which start that way. Choose the one you are searching for, fill in 'Subject' field, write a message and press the button 'Send'.

I would like to invite one of the users to my Friends' circle
In order to invite another user to your Friends' circle you need to click a suitable icon in the profile of this user. After you did it, you need to wait until the user accepts your invitation.

How can I search for users who fulfil my criteria?
If you are not registered with TravelFriends, you can use our Search tool in its basic version. However its criteria are limited very much. In order to use fully all the opportunities, which TravelFriends give to you and to find people, who match best the profile of the Travel Partner you have described and you are searching for, just register and use our 'Advanced search' option.

How can I find a user if I know just his / her nickname?
In the menu 'Search' there is an option 'Find a user'. E.g. if you are searching for a user 'Monika14' it should be enough to type the beginning of the nickname (e.g. mon ) and the system will search for you all the users, whose nicknames contain this series of marks

I cannot open Gallery of the other user. Why?
This is probable that this user marked in his/her Settings that his/her pictures can see only his/her Friends. Send an invitation to this user. If the invitation is accepted, it means that you have joined his/her Friends' circle and then you will be able also to see the pictures from your Friend's Gallery. Check also whether your browser enables JavaScripts and whether it enables you to open new windows (pop-ups). The blockade can be also caused by filter browsers, which often come together with firewalls or anti-virus programs

I want to unblock messages from a user
In menu ‘Mailbox’ there is an option ‘Black List’. It displays a list of people you have blocked plus a button that enables you to unblock a chosen person

MESSAGES

How can I distinguish between read and new (unread) messages in my Inbox (in Mailbox)?
The subject of a message, which is marked with bold means that this message is still unread (wasn't dispayed yet)

What is a ‘Black List’?
This is a list of TravelFriends users, who you decided not to keep in touch with. Those users will not be able to write messages to you.

What can I do when I do not like a user’s behaviour?
If any user bothers you, it’s best to block his profile. This way you will add him / her to your Black List. In order to do so click the icon, which you will find on the right hand side of the user's profile. When this method doesn't help and he / she is still making trouble to you, inform us about it by sending an email to help@travelfriends.pl

PICTURES

Is adding a picture obligatory?
It is not obligatory to add w picture, however it makes easier to get to know the other people. It is also proven that people who place their picture in their profile have more visits on their profile and faster and easier find friends.

I want to set a picture as the main one in my profile
Go to 'My Gallery', there is an option 'Edit description' at every picture - choose it and then check 'Set as a main photo'. Save changes.

I cannot add a picture...
Make sure that is has the right format, size and the weight

How can I report pictures that are uncensored or they offend against good custom of third party?
You can report it with the use of button 'Report abuse', which you will find on the right hand side of the user's profile. The Administrator of the Service after he/she confirms the abuse, will remove the picture.

I want to block my Gallery so that the people I do not know, could not see it
If you want to block your Gallery of pictures, in 'Settings' choose 'Edit your privacy settings' and check the option 'Show my Gallery ONLY to my Friends'.

I want to block making comments under my pictures
In order to disable the possibility of adding comments to the pictures in your Gallery, go to 'Settings', then choose 'Privacy settings' and in the box 'Allow to comment on my pictures' choose the option 'To nobody'.

I want my Friends only to add comments to the pictures in my Gallery
If you want only your Friends to add comments to your pictures in your Gallery, go to 'Settings', then choose 'Privacy settings' and in the box 'Allow to comment on my pictures' choose the option 'ONLY to my Friends'.

What is a maximum size of a picture, which I can add to my Profile?
A maxumum size of a picture this is 256 kB

How many pictures maximum can I add?
We develop TravelFriends service continuously and gradually we will strive to tailor to the expectations of our Users. At present each registered and logged in User can add to his/her Profile 7 pictures maximum.

MY ACCOUNT

Is my data safe?
Yes, of course your data is safe. We do not publicize any personal information of TravelFriends Users and we do not give it out to third party unless they do not do it themselves with the use of the Service.

My account has been blocked. Why?
Probably you have acted against Terms and Conditions. A specified reason of the blockade you will receive by email. If this was not a serious violation of the rules, your account will be unblocked after you made suitable changes. You will be informed by email about it.

How can I remove my account from TravelFriends?
If you really want to resign from being a user of TravelFriends, please go to 'Privacy policy' - you will find over there the access to a special form. Remember! The removal of an account is irreversible! At your disposal there are also another settings, which protect your privacy - displaying your Profile. Please see 'Settings' in your account, you will find there more detailed information.
